Educator of the Year

Now accepting nominations for 2009 FENI Educator of the Year

 

Two award winners, one from each category (high school and postsecondary) will be invited to the 2009 FENI Educators Summit, Feb 14-17, 2009. Each winner will be awarded complimentary registration and a $1,000 stipend for travel expenses. The awards will be announced at the 2009 Awards Reception on February 16 at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Las Vegas, Nev. 2009 Categories/ Eligibility
1. High School Educator: Any high-school instructor of a culinary-arts or nutrition program that leads to a diploma or certificate (minimum 1,000 hours of teaching experience).
2. Postsecondary Educator: Any instructor who teaches culinary arts or nutrition in a non-high-school program that leads to a degree or certificate (minimum 1,000 hours of teaching experience).
Note: You may nominate yourself for this award. Previous nominators, applicants and winners are eligible to apply.

 

The deadline for all nominations is December 1, 2008 (postmarked).
The two award winners MUST attend the FENI Summit to be eligible for the award. All who apply will be contacted via e-mail and phone regarding their status on or before January 5, 2009.

 

Items that must be included with this application:
1. Cover letter from nominator, with description of nominee's current position and why he or she should receive this award.
2. Three endorsement letters: two from supervisors, co-workers or anyone who can describe the nominee's professionalism and past or present contributions to foodservice education, and one letter from a current or former student of the nominee.
3. Nominee's résumé, curriculum vitae or biography.
4. Brief essay (500 words maximum) written by nominee describing to the selection committee the qualifications that make him or her ideal as a FENI Educator of the Year. Specific examples of teaching excellence are encouraged to help the committee make its selection.
