Applications now being accepted for Lesson Plan of the year

Lesson Plan award of the year criteria Each lesson plan that is submitted must include the four criteria explained below. There should be continuity between the stated learning objectives, assessment/ evaluation techniques, and instructional material chosen for the lesson plan that is submitted to FENI. Winner will be awarded complimentary registration along with free Master Classes an additional $500.

 

A. Stated learning objectives
Before stating the learning objectives, please provide information as to whom the lesson plan was developed for in terms of the age of the students, prerequisite knowledge or skill, learning styles, motivation level, etc.The learning objectives should be very specific statements of:
A) What students were able to do upon completion of the lesson.
B) Assisting the instructor in selecting instructional active.
C) Determining appropriate assessment/ evaluation techniques.
D) Guiding the selection of instructional materials.Some examples of properly state learning objective include:
• After completing this lesson, the student will be able to identify the primary cuts of beef.
• After completing this lesson, the student will be able to make a bechamel sauce.

 

B. Instructional Activities
The instructional activities should have been selected on the basis of their potential for assisting students in mastering each of the stated learning objectives. We are most interested in those lesson plans that employ innovative instructional activities to help students master learning objectives such as cooperative learning, service-learning, projects, role plays, creative demonstrations, unique discussions, games, simulations, and so forth.

 

C.Assessment Evaluation Techniques

The lesson plan should state the assessment and/ or evaluation techniques that were used to determine student mastery of stated learning objectives. Assessment techniques are those that are not graded; they are used to determine if the students are grasping the lesson (s) without giving them a grade. Evaluation techniques are those that rate, rank, grade, pass/fail student performance. There should be an appropriate corresponding assessment and/ or evaluation techniques for each stated learning objective with an explanation as to why each was selected.D.

 

Instructional Materials

The instructional materials needed to complete the lesson plan should also be described. They should be consistent with the type of student completing the plan, the stated learning objectives, and assessment and/ or evaluation techniques in the lessons plan.
